Join Province-wide 'STANDs FOR HOUSING'
Stand In Your Community, Saturday May 3rd 2008, 1-2pm

Dear Friends,

Homelessness and lack of affordable housing are calamities in Vancouver, Victoria, and Surrey. They are approaching crisis levels
elsewhere on the Lower Mainland and the Island, and they are worsening in the Interior and BC's North.

It's time for a citizens' movement that puts increasing pressure on all levels of government to fund construction of new, permanent social
housing. We invite you to join us in the Homes for All movement as we encourage creation of "STANDs for Housing" in every community in the province. From one site in the Little Mountain neighbourhood, we have grown to 15 Stands in Vancouver and are ready to spread STANDS throughout the province on May 3, 2008.

As of this writing, people in 25 towns and cities in the province have committed to hold STANDs on that date, and we hope for many more. We invite you to Stand with concerned citizens in your home community during a province-wide day of action on Saturday, May 3, from 1-2pm.

You need only a few people and one hour to make a successful STAND at a busy intersection in your community. Please contact CALM (below) for information about Stands, how to get a banner, scarves & leaflets, and where to find Stands in your community-and how to organize your own Stand.
