Reducing Public Disorder: Community Feedback Survey

CLICK TO TAKE THE SURVEY

A message from Mayor Sam Sullivan:

I am working with Councillor Kim Capri <https://vancouver.ca/ctyclerk/councillors/capri.htm> to develop a new, coordinated and integrated approach to street disorder issues. This “made in Vancouver” program is intended to address activities such as graffiti, littering, by-law infractions and aggressive panhandling, among others. We plan to bring forward recommendations to City Council later this Fall.

It is important to note that this proposed initiative is not intended in any way to lessen Council’s resolve to address other issues such as violent crime and the open drug market. Rather, this new program is intended to complement the work being done on that front by a number of key stakeholders including our front-line police officers.

We also recognize the importance of continuing to advocate for solutions that address some of the root causes of crime and public disorder, such as poverty, homelessness, drug addiction and mental illness. These issues will remain a focus of my discussions with the Provincial and Federal governments.

I hope you will take a few moments to provide us with your input in the survey form below, or alternatively email us at mayorandcouncil@vancouver.ca. Your feedback will be sent directly to my office and will be considered in the development of a new public order program to be introduced at Council later this Fall.

Involvement from the entire community will be essential to this program’s success. Thank you for taking time to give us your opinion, and I hope you will continue to be involved.
